HOW IS TAKE FUNDED?

  • TAKE operates on donations of clothing & household goods

  • No items are ever purchased, nor does TAKE ever charge for items

  • TAKE staff & leadership are all volunteers–we have no payroll to meet

  • A Board of Directors, also volunteers, assists TAKE with fundraising & other needs

Take Building

We took a huge leap of faith in the community’s financial support for a major step.  Our Board and volunteers are very excited about the purchase of this building on E. First Street to provide TAKE with a permanent home!  In looking at all available rental properties, it appeared that this purchase was far more cost effective for TAKE as a non-profit than leasing at current rents around town!

TAKE STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The purchase of this property is subject to financing. TAKE’s costs now include a mortgage payment instead of rent, but they are much less than new rental costs would have been!  And TAKE still has some improvements to make their new home more accessible to all shoppers and donors.  TAKE is VERY GRATEFUL for our community’s support!  But TAKE still needs your ongoing support to keep our doors open and continue to serve the most vulnerable in our community.

TAKE’S Charitable Account at Stuff, Etc.

Because our donation hours and capacity are limited, many of our donors have embraced donating the gently used and new items they would ordinarily donate at TAKE (as well as other items we cannot accept at TAKE, such as furniture) by taking them to Stuff Etc Ankeny and donating them to TAKE’s Charitable Account! 


Just a reminder that Stuff accepts a wider variety of items than we have the capacity to accept at TAKE, such as furniture, sports equipment, and outdoor equipment. Currently, Stuff has a 1 bag/tote limit per donor per day for charitable account donations. Donors can drop off items at Stuff, etc., from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Tue – Sat, without an appointment–no need to call but please see the Stuff website for guidance on what they do and do not accept (unsellable items will be recycled). If you are donating clothing at Stuff, please sort out adult clothing separate from children’s clothing–thank you!


TAKE is entirely volunteer run, so your donations to Stuff for our charitable account, help TAKE keep the lights on so we can continue to help community members in need.
